  1. To express the failure of the educational system,Susan Engel expresses,"But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life" Through this thought, we discover that our theories on how to teach the curriculum does not encourage students to succeed in neither school, or life.

  2. In her article "Let Kids Rule the School," Engel claims, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." The purpose of school is to teach children and help them grow into wise and successful adults. If our schooling system is not accomplishing this, it needs to be changed. The future of our country will be at a greater risk if children are not learning what they should be in school.

  3. In this world, there are too many college students who cannot do a job correctly because they are so rapped up in text book knowledge. Engel realized, "but our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." Text books are good for some things but a book cannot teach more beyond a formula or a format. Most of the time, jobs don't hand you a formula, and sometimes formulas don't even work in the real world. To improve, schools have to get beyond this so that we will be prepared for what is coming.

  4. Many say that the educational system has taken a turn for the worst while others believe were porducing well educated students that are ready for life. Engel gives an opinion that acknowledges, "But our current educational approach doesn't jus fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." I believe this to be true, being a student and learning everything from books and not going any deeper than that, although it teaches basic skills in basic situations, it can't prepare students for other things that may happen and the criticism they'll hear from other people everyday of their life.

  5. It has been observed that "...our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." High School can be percieved many different ways, but the main observation is how drastically different it is from what is neccessary after high school. What we learn is essential, but what we don't learn can be even more of a shock.

  6. Susan Engel is trying to emphasize the drop in academic success. Many others agree with her, because the number of high school drop outs has increased and the number of high testing scores has decreased. She implies in her quote "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life" (Engel). Here she comments on the "current educational approach" toward students. She implies that the way teachers try to profess students may not necessarily help with future goals.

  7. With the education our generation is getting, it just isn’t good enough for preperation for the “real” world. Some believe that the education that we are given isnt cutting it. We need to change our ways or we will fail in life after our schooling.

  8. With our current educational system, Engel believes that the way of teaching is not only staying the same, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." The author expresses that there must be a change in the way the school teaches. Only teaching academics and not preparing the students for anything else, they are basically just setting students up to fail in life.

  9. Susan Engel shares her opinion of the educational system by claiming, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." Engel brings out the importance that what we learn in school now does not help us in our future. We need to obtain a system that can help us with obstacles that we will have to deal with later on.

  10. In an article written by Susan Engel, she expresses, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". Many believe that there are flaws in the education system and students are not provided with the skills needed to face the real world. Students should be taught etiquette and customer service which is highly neccesary in the work force.

  11. In an article discussing our corrupt educational system, Susan Engel claims, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." From her opinion, what I believe Engel is trying to express is that with the way things are going with our education system, teenagers aren't being prepared for not only college, but the skills we will need as adults such to exceed in life and grow to be independent individuals.

  13. Trying to explain how school is lacking the ability to prepare us, as students, for the future, Engel claims "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life" If one cant succeed in adult hood, it will be hard to succeed any where else. Many have their own vision of the path they want to go down after high school, they should be able to take classes they need in order to fill those requirements. Less time wasted in irrelevant classes, leads to more succees where it counts. Schools should even have a class where it teaches you things you need to know for the future, like for example what requirements you need to buy a house things that are important to know and not quadratic formulas that you may never use again unless your majoring in math.

  16. A wise thought from Susan Engel states: "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." Highschool does not teach teenagers everything they will need in order to be successful in life. The educational system is built by those who aren't in school and have no knowledge of living through it. We would be much better prepared for life if we had control over what we are willing to learn, since we would actually enjoy what we are learning

  17. Susan Engel states, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". She takes notice of the long term affects of students in high school. Not only are we the future, but we are the generation that controls the future. Engel believes that it is important to prepare the youth for the struggles they are going to face in the big world. Teachers should teach not only to the limit of passing high school, but to an extent of being a successful human being.

  18. When Engel talks about our education, she says something like, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." What this guy is trying to say to me is that the schools are bad in getting us ready, or preparing us for the adult hood life. This can be helped by offering more Family Life courses or maybe a class where we have to pay taxes like adults do. Engel also attacks the school system bye stating more than one of the many failures in the school way of life.

  19. Our education system attempts to prepare us with the basic information we will be using throughout the rest of our lives. But is it enough? Writer Susan Engel once stated that, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". By this she implies that what we are being taught now is less than what we need to be prepared for the real life we that we have ahead of us. Perhaps we need a stronger curriculum consisting of not only more knowledgeable courses, but also more practice of what an adult life is like, in order for us to be fully prepared.

  20. Susan Engel pointed out an important issue concerning our education in her article, "Let Kids Rule the School". When she stated, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life", she points out that they are teaching us information, but some of it fails to prepare us for real life. We would be prepared if we can get rid of the classes that we don't need, and mix in a few classes that can give us a glimpse in real life.

  21. Each school has their own way of preparing students for many things, but none as a whole they all have failed to prepare students for important things such as being an adult. In Susan Engel's article, "Let Kids Rule the School" she makes the point that, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". Engel emphasizes the point that our current educational system is failing to prepare students in the two most important things students need to be prepared for when leaving high school. I agree with what Engel says, what we learn in school, doesn't prepare us for adult life and a lot of what we learn none of us will use after or outside of school.

  22. In this quote, Susan Engel explains "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life" Through this, I am lead to believe that the way that teachers want to educate us students isn't working and Susan dislikes it. I think that she needs to go on to explain how teachers could change their teaching methods in order for us students to grow from students into mature and educated adults.

  24. "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life" said by Engel reflected the reality of today high school. High school is suppose to be a place that prepare us for life but now aday, it just teach us whatever the state tel it to. It just teach us whatever that make the school looks good.

  25. Although i agree with Engel in some views of his theory but i believe this would be bad for the future of the students and i believe the system would be abused. I do believe that some aspect of school do not help students for adult life but if students controlled the school i believe they would not try to learn but just try to make it easy for themselves.

  26. According to Susan Engel, our educational schooling sytem needs to be changed. She acknowledges this when she shares in her article, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". Students are the future and need to be shaped up into responsible, educated adults. In order for this to occur we need a more advanced and improved schooling system.

  27. Susan Engel reveals how school's don't properly equip students for the future by pointing out, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". Teachers instruct students by helping them become "book smart" and yes... that benefits us in the future but at the same time we need street smarts also. So by changing their teaching methods it will help students be successful later in life.

  28. Engel criticizes the education system in her New York Times article, "Let Kids Rule the School." "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." Students in the education system of today, have learned only to regurgitate information given to them at school. This is not the point of school, but actually to teach us how to apply it to our lives and help us improve our lives after high school or college.

  29. Today the educational system isn’t only in trouble, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life”. Susan Engel reminds us of this, and cautions us to look for higher education whenever we can so that we will be able to achieve our goals in life.

  30. Statistics have been shown by the Broad Residency Center that America's education expectations have been set low and still about 1.2 million students drop out each year. I agree with Susan Engel,"our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life." Our education doesn't help shape the future of America educationally or socially.

  31. Writer Susan Engel expresses her views on education in portraying, "But our current educational approach doesn't just fail to prepare teenagers for graduation or for college academics; it fails to prepare them, in a profound way, for adult life". In this, she instills her belief that schools should be doing more to prepare young adults for their futures. As a student, I agree with Engel. If school would stop teaching so much to the test and were to prepare kids for real life problems, it would increase their preparedness for going into college and install good work ethics.
